Information

Zack Boles
Certainly you have heard Zack Boles, whether on a national spot or the local TV station, his voice is familiar to you. His career began in Houston and moved to Sacramento in 1970. In the early days of FM radio you would have heard him doing morning drive on the legendary KZAP. Moving on to KCTC in April of 1974, Zack honed his production ability and pushed the station for multi-track tape decks and more gear.

In 1980 Zack struck out on his own and Studio Z Recording was born. His talents brought many radio and television commercials to life as the collection of CLIO's, Telly's, Advertising Club and Hollywood Radio and Television Society award show.

Outgrowing the 26th and Jay Street location in 1987 brought a move twenty two blocks up the street to 48th and Jay where the studio is today. Zack had the building stripped and built as a versatile facility capable of handling all types of projects.

Over the years Zack's client list has included a long list of A List clients. Whether working in house at Studio Z Recording or other studios in major markets, Zack's voice talent is always in demand.

History

Studio Z Recording began at 26th and Jay Street in Downtown Sacramento. This small studio produced audio for television and radio commercials. The original 8 track recorder came from Fantasy Studios and produced hits for groups such as Creedance Clearwater Revival and Cal Tjader.

In 1986 a building on 48th Street near Jay Street became available and Zack purchased the building and spent nearly a year refurbishing it. The entire interior was gutted and two control rooms and two studios were built under the direction of Jay Lemmons. Isolated by eighteen inches of wall and carefully designed for acoustics, this basic studio construction has stood the test of time and two interior remodels.

When it came time to upgrade the desk, a Trident TSM was available at The Plant in Sausalito California. The console had a history of hits for artists Huey Lewis, Paul McCartney and others. This one owner console was installed new at The Plant by Dr. Richie Moore who helped in the refurbishing when it was purchased by Studio Z Recording.

Along with a new console came more outboards, new racks and cabinets and more of those special touches Studio Z Recording is known for.

Always a comfortable environment, the facilities at Studio Z Recording are perfect for your project.
